Boy and His Dog, A (1975)

Don Johnson stars in this cult classic as "Vic," a typical post-adolescent teen in search of love in post-apocalyptic times. The earth is in ruin, and food is as scarce as the women. However, Vic's telepathic dog, "Blood," is somehow able to steer Vic in the right direction -- most of the time. Talking pigs?! Ha! Blood could eat Babe, the talking pig, for lunch. The first time I saw this film, I couldn't help but notice that a woman I had been with the previous night - someone with whom I thought I had established a romantic kind of rapport - was there at the film with another guy! I couldn't believe it! Not that I was devastated or anything, but it was the guy she was with that really bothered me. I mean, what the hell was that all about, anyway?! Well, anyway, "A Boy and His Dog" is really funny and I wouldn't recommend it if it sucked. Tim McIntire is the voice behind Blood, and L.Q. Jones is the director and writer behind the project. If you've got some kind of anti-Don Johnson hangup, suspend it for 90 minutes and rent this film. It's worth it - particularly for Blood's sarcasm.
