Shane (1953)
This is classic cinema a true Western. Alan Ladd is Shane, the good-guy drifter who stumbles upon a rancher-farmer feud in the lawless old West. Director George Stevens garnered an Academy Award nomination, as did Brandon DeWilde, the tot named "Joey" who takes a likin' to the stranger. There are a number of famous scenes in this film, including the classic showdown gunfight between Shane and the bad guy, Wilson (Jack Palance). Cinematographer Loyal Griggs won an Oscar.
