Spellbound (1945)
Alfred Hitchcock directed this classic thriller about a really screwed-up, paranoid amnesic (Gregory Peck) who, not so surprisingly, falls in love with a beautiful psychoanalyst (Ingrid Bergman). But, hey, don't mistake this for a love story - this is pure suspense! If Hitchcock's direction isn't enough to get you to rent this hard-to-find video, how about Ingrid looking you in the face and saying, "Tell me about your childhood." And this Freudian thriller wouldn't be complete without a famous dream sequence designed by Salvador Dali (very offbeat but, oddly enough, fits Hitchcock's style). This is one of my favorite Hitchcock films (he was nominated for an Oscar), and the special effects in the Dali sequence are way ahead of their time! Hitchcock, Dali, Bergman, Peck. It doesn't get much better than this.
