Have you ever picked up a novel and read the first sentence or paragraph and then decided you didn't need to read anymore? Every producer I've met says—unsolicited—that 95 percent of the scripts they get:
- Lack clarity;

In essence, what is obvious to the writer is not always obvious to the reader; thus it is imperative to eliminate any chance a producer has to toss your script aside in favor of any one of the numerous other scripts piled around the office—and make no mistake, producers' offices are filled with stacks of scripts waiting to be read:
- the stack from writers they know;
- the stack from agents they know;
- the stack from managers they know;
- the stack from friends of friends....
So your script needs to be as polished as it can be to compete with what's in those other stacks.

Important: Be sure to copyright your script prior to submitting it for any script analysis or coverage.
